From Fear to Faith
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
After being away a good part of the day, that night we brought a couple of our grandkids home with us to spend the night. Before I had finished getting everything out of the car, the wife was telling me the back door was unlocked and open. She said she was sure that she had locked it. On the way into the house I grabbed a trusty little aluminum bat and went into to secure the perimeter. As the grandkids followed we walked all through the house and did a search to make sure no one was there. Everything was in tact and nothing was disturbed so it appeared to be just an oversight on our part that the door was open. As the grandkids followed me talking. I could hear the apprehension and a degree of fearfulness in their voices as they wanted us to set the alarm. Now these grandkids are about six and nine years old. As we got them ready to put to bed I began to talk with them about fear and the author of fear. I explained about the One who is our life and security, the One who has His hand upon our lives and all that touches us can only be by His permission. We talked about “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”; how we are “more than conquerors through Christ that loved us” and how God has “not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” As I began to speak these things to them, faith began to rise in their hearts as they began to remember and realize that even though they were just children, Someone, much greater, resided in them and watched over them. I began to recount Bible stories of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, of Hezekiah when great armies came up against Jerusalem and the Lord told Him to send the praise team and worshippers out first. I asked them how they would like to go out in the frontlines of battle with just a tambourine or a horn or just their voice. We talked about how that praise and worship of faith and obedience released God to discomfit and utterly destroy those great armies so that by the time they reached them all there was to do was gather the spoil they left behind. We talked about the story of Paul and Silas, beaten for their faith and thrown into dark dirty jail, their hands in chains as they began to sing hymns and songs unto the Lord. Through that praise and worship, in the midst of such discouraging circumstances, God sent an earthquake that opened the cells and freed everybody, but nobody escaped. As the distraught jailer thought everyone had fled he drew his sword to kill himself, Paul stopped him and assured him all of them were there. We saw how what had seemed to be a day of utter defeat and failure had been turned by God to result in the salvation of this jailer and his household.
The kids wanted to hear more and more stories, but finally I said it is time for us to go to bed. Now there was no more fear or apprehension as we turned in. It was as the scripture says in Romans 10:17, “So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Are you fearful today about some circumstance in your life? Don’t look at how great the problem or the circumstances are, rather look to the Word of God and see how great your God is. Look at all the times He delivered His people, because they put their faith and trust in Him. Don’t look to how great the name is of the disease or burden that you bear, look to the Name above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord to the glory of God ( Philippians 2:9-11). Our God can take us from fear to faith as we read and meditate upon His Word; remembering how great and mighty our God is, how He loved us and gave himself for us and how if we fear anything let us fear the Lord and trust Him.
The Psalmist David says it so well in Psalms 56:11, “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.”

Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
God does not operate out of chance. He does not spin a wheel and wherever the ball lands that’s the direction He goes. Our God is a magnificent God of design and order. He has a plan and He knows the beginning to the end. Your life and mine aren’t a chance happening, they are ordered of the Lord. He has put within each one of us a destiny and a purpose for our being.
Someone may be thinking, “You don’t know my life, what I have been through or what a mess I am.” God does and He is able to take what the enemy has meant for evil and destruction and turn it around to be a stronghold for His glory and praise. He is able to lift you up out of the death and darkness you have been in and set your feet in the way of light and truth. He is able to take our weakness and turn them into the strongest areas of righteousness and victory in our lives. God has a destiny, plan and purpose for your life, but the only way you will fully realize it is as you allow Him to order your steps according to His Word. God has a divine and fulfilling plan for each of us, but we don’t have to follow it. It is sin and rebellion that have caused us to miss it and that is why many of us are in the misery we are in.
As we look back over our lives, what do we see? Are we satisfied and content with the results? Do you feel you have lived your life to the fullness of God’s will and design for you. We must come to the place that we realize our greatest joy, happiness and fulfillment doesn’t come out pursuing our own pleasures and desires, it will only be realized in the unity with God’s will and order for your life. As I look back over my own life and the times I have walked close to God and the times I haven’t, I can see that my greatest joy, blessing and fulfillment are the times when I am passionately pursuing Him and seeking the fullness of His will for my life. Our Father didn’t give us His Word and commandments to imprison us and make us miserable. He gave them to set us free to be the children of righteousness and holiness that could enjoy the riches of all that He has for us. It is our own sin and rebellion that prevent, inhibit and imprison us from enjoying the full blessings and promises that God has given us.
Our God is a God of divine and precise order. We can look all around our universe and see the evidence of that in all of creation. Only the fool could truly say the world and all its wonders were created by mere chance, how absurd. An atheist has to have more faith to believe that, than a believer does to believe in God. All of creation is a testimony to the wonder, greatness and order of God. We have to realize that so much of our thinking, values and beliefs have been the persuasion of a lie. All the chaos, disorder, anarchy, rebellion and discord in the world is the result of the devil’s influence on the minds and hearts of men. We at war with terrorism today because men bought the lies of satan and in the name of religion and their god they terrorize by killing, wounding and maiming innocent men, women and children. That certainly has no connection with the God I know.
If our steps are ordered of the Lord then He will not allow iniquity to have dominion over you. In fact, in Christ, He has already empowered you to have victory and dominion over sin and iniquity. He is our righteousness and we stand complete Him today because of Jesus. Jesus did it all. He has issued us all the equipment we need to go out, conquer and prevail. All we have to do is, in faith, put it on and use it according the operations manual of the Word of God, your Bible. If we are living in defeat, oppression and failure in our lives, then we are like a homeless person using hundred dollar bills to stuff the bag he is sleeping on. God has given us the resources, but we must rise up in the authority of His Word and the name of Jesus Christ and use them.
We cannot live our lives by random order and expect the fullness of God’s best in our lives. It will be a hit and miss proposition. As we live methodically and purposefully in the principles of God’s Word then we will reap the benefits of His promises and provisions. If you want victory, joy and fulfillment in your life then order your steps in the Lord and in His Word.

Kingdom Principle of Power and Provision

Matthew 10:6-20
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; 10take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.
11″Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave. 12As you enter the home, give it your greeting. 13If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. 14If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. 15I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. 16I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
17″Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. 18On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, 20for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Kingdom Principle of Power and Provision
One of the principles that Christ taught His disciple in this exercise and that He would have us to learn is that your power and your provision are in your assignment and commission. What God has called you to do He will enable you to do and provide for you to do. Along with these provisions is the responsibility to walk in obedience and the direction of your calling and assignment.
I pray we are all getting a revelation in this hour that God is through with the time of segregation between “Ministry” and “Laity”. God has called us all in one capacity or another to “Ministry”. It may not look like what it traditionally has, but the body of Christ has been crippled so long by the paradigm that the congregation or general church body is only to be preached at and often members have set in pews and heard the same message of salvation spoon fed to them a thousand different ways. That is like repeating the first grade a thousand different times. God doesn’t want us to be content with remaining on the milk of the Word and the foundational principles. We each have a calling of ministry in our lives that we need to grow up in and be empowered to act upon. Hebrews 5:11-14 gives us somewhat of a rebuke in this area when it says, “We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. 12In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” The Word of God is exhorting us, “Body of Christ it is time to grow up and become of full age and maturity.” We, as the body, have often been quite content to sit back, pay our tithes and relegate the spiritual responsibilities to those in “Ministry”. If we are to move into the things of God and the calling He has upon our lives in this hour then our free pass is over. Let’s grow up and find what it is that God has called us too. Ministry leadership’s responsibility is to help you through their gift and calling to come into yours. The body of Christ has been lethargic far too long. It is time we become activated. When we do and we act upon what the Holy Spirit is directing and calling us to do our power and provision will be in our obedience to respond to that calling and direction.
Jesus didn’t tell the disciples to take anything extra with them on their assignment, for a workman is worthy of his hire. Many of God’s people may be lacking because we are not responding to meeting the needs in one another. We may often rob the servants of God because of our selfishness and unwillingness to see our responsibility in adequately providing for those who are operating in their calling. For the body of Christ to be whole it has to operate in unity and oneness under the headship of Christ and the direction of the Holy Spirit. We are no longer about “us four and no more”. We are our brother’s keeper, his provision and his blessing. Likewise, he should be ours. Let us arise from our complacency and come into our function in the body. Do not worry that you don’t feel worthy or able. Christ is your worthiness and the Holy Spirit is well able to help you fulfill the assignment He has given you. Just be faithful and obedient and He will empower and provide. Like I heard one dear Christian lady say, “His will, His bill.” First of all, let us get in His will.

A Word from the Lord
Romans 13:12
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Leave this day the things of the earthly realm behind you. Look into the dawn of the New Day for from the East arises your salvation and from the West the sun is setting on the former things and the things of this time and place. Open your heart to me and I will fill it. Open your mouth to me and I will fill it. Open your hands to me and I will fill them. I will be your supply and your provision. All of your need is met in me. Lean not upon the arm of the flesh to feed and provide in your day of want. I am your Provider and the supplier of every need. Lean not upon your own understanding, but lean on the council of My Word, for it is the light unto your path and a lamp unto your feet. Take care that you walk in the light of the council of my Word. It is a sword to prove you, to divide and separate soul and spirit. Far too long my people have been a mixture and double-minded in their ways. Let your eye be single and your heart true to the calling that I have given you to walk in My ways and obey My commands, if you do this, then do you love Me. Far too long my people offer up the oblations of praise and worship, but their hearts are far from me. Outwardly they do their homage, but within their heart and their thoughts they entertain wickedness and impurity. I do not judge the outward man, but the inward man, the man of the heart. What value does a beautiful cup or vessel have if it is full of abominations and wickedness? The fire is sent to purify that which I have sanctified. It will burn with unquenchable thirst until there is no more left to feed its desire. Mercy and grace will wet and temper the steel of godliness in my people, lest they be consumed in judgement. My people shall turn to me from the least to the greatest and those that are mine shall gather beneath My wing. There I will shelter them from the storm. It is a time of pruning and separation so that those who would bear fruit may do so more abundantly and those that are dead upon the vine may be cut off and cast into the fire. What a man has sown and what he is now sowing will bear its fruit and he shall eat the fruit thereof either to life or to death. Take care how you plant into your life and into the lives of others. Clay pots hold divine life. Only as they are emptied are they perpetually filled. Stop holding the life till it becomes stagnant and putrified. Pour out that which I place within each one of you. It is only in giving that you truly receive. Release the life. You are not vessels for storage, you are the vessels of daily use to wash the feet of common people and make their way clean and sure. Some of you say, what do I have to give? Give your life, your service, and My love that abides within you. With Me there is never a lack of supply or increase. You are shallow, because your deeds are shallow. Become the vessel that is tipped over and poured out. If you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly. Revelation is coming, but it comes with a price. It must be received with humility and obedience. The revelation of the Most High is revealed in what you live and not in what you know. The revelation of Jesus Christ in you is revealed through a crucified life, laid upon the altar of obedience and service. Today is the day to seek Me and lay all else aside. I am your refuge, your hiding place, your mighty fortress, but you must truly know me to be hid in me. It is no longer about outward actions of religion and godliness, it is a day to know intimately my heart and come into the inner sanctuary of relationship and abiding that is only found in intimacy and relationship. Come quickly, for the days are getting short and times and seasons are at hand. Rouse you up out of your sleep and slumber and come away with me. I speak these things to you, because I love you. Let him who has an ear hear what the Spirit is speaking to the Church. It is the day for the Bride to prepare herself and make ready for her Groom. Take heed and act quickly.

Unto You, I Bring My Life

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Unto You, I Bring My Life
The ways of the Lord are steadfast. He is not moved by every wind of circumstance as men are. His perspective is high above all and sees all and knows all. Why would we not want to put our confidence in Him who is all and in all. Life can weigh heavy upon us at times and seem even an insurmountable weight, but the Word says we don’t have to bear the weight of that burden, because our God has broad and strong shoulders. He will undertake for us and sustain us. For where we are weak, He is strong. Where we would fail, He overcomes. He is the overcomer in us, showing us His strength even in the midst of our adversity and suffering.
When you have a wash cloth full of water and you want to use it to wipe the counter what do you have to do first? You have to wring out the excess water, so you twist it tightly in you hands as the excess water pours out. That is similar to what God must to do in us to make us usable to wash and clean others. He has to wring out the self and selfishness, so all that remains is selflessness in service of others and we are usable in His hands. If He used us the way we were, we would no doubt make more of a mess than we cleaned up. Too much water. Too much self. God is breaking us only to establish us in Him who is immovable and unbreakable. He shall sustain us.
Psalm 25:1-5 in the Amplified version puts it so beautifully this way:
“UNTO YOU, O Lord, do I bring my life.
2O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.
3Yes, let none who trust and wait hopefully and look for You be put to shame or be disappointed; let them be ashamed who forsake the right or deal treacherously without cause.
4Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.
5Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You [You only and altogether] do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.
It is in our God we wait expectantly and faithfully. We know that He is has our life in His hands and that all things are working together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose ( Romans 8:28). Even when we don’t see our answers in the time and the way we expect to see them, God is still God. He works all things after the counsel of His will and not ours. Even though we may think we know how to run God’s business better, trust me, we don’t.
I am reminded of the New Testament equivalent of this scripture in Philippians 4:6-7 (Amplified) it says this, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Is everything in life going to go the way we planned and hoped? Probably not. Life has its bumps and turns, some more severe than others, but Christ is the vehicle that helps us negotiate all the roads that life takes us down. He is our peace, protection and provision. He will see us through and work His great salvation in us if we hold fast our confidence and do not grow weary in well doing. The pathway to Sonship is a disciplined path. It will often take us where we would not go and cause us to do what we would not do. Transformation is like that. It will turn you inside out as it makes a new creature of you.
Cast your burden and your anxieties upon the Lord. He is our peace, our confidence, our safety, our provision and our answer to every trial that is set before us. “Unto YOU, O Lord, do I bring my life.”

So put on sackcloth, lament and wail, for the fierce anger of the LORD has not turned away from us.
9 “In that day,” declares the LORD, “the king and the officials will lose heart, the priests will be horrified, and the prophets will be appalled.”
Word of the Lord to Press In!
Press in! Press in! Press in!
You are being taken from faith to faith and from glory to glory, but this is not through the mountaintop, it is through the valley. It is not through the blessings, but through the fire. It is not in life to self, but it is through the death of the cross.
My people that are called by my name repent in your sackcloth and ashes. Come and wail before the altar, for the skies grow dark and the storm is brewing in the heavens that will come to pass upon the earth. It is not a day for taking your ease as you have in the past, but a day for pressing in. Your time is short before you will face true adversity and trial, as you have not yet known. You will need all of your faith and you will need your relationship with Me to take you through. Your safety and well being is in none other than Me. I alone will see you through says the Lord. I alone will order your step in the way of safety. My people know my voice, but how can they know it if they have not been intimately with me and walked with me that they may discern and know?
Season the pan as you season your hearts. Put within your heart my words seasoned with faith and faithfulness. Many will cry out in that day, because they do not know their God. Many will forsake their faith for a seemingly easier and better way, but it is a way of destruction and death. In that way they will not only lose their lives, but their souls. Cleave to Me, You who are my own. Come under the shadow of My wing, for there you will find your shelter and that which will preserve you in the coming days.
You are as raisins in the sun. To the world you look dried up and of no value or substance. The world is looking to the sweet grapes of the vine. They glean them, but they perish in a day for they have not stood the test, nor been dried in the sun, having been seasoned and tested. Drink of the new wine of My covenant that you may live and not die, for my remnant will hear my voice and know the way. My ways are not for the casual traveler, but for those who will press into Me in this hour. Your provision and your salvation are not in this world, but they are in your God,
Former things are passing away and a new day is pressing upon you. It is the day of the Lord. It is a day of reckoning and anguish for the world, but great is the salvation that will be revealed through My people that are walking in Me. I have prepared you for such a time as this, so do not be complacent, but press in!
