Kingdom Value, Kingdom Purpose

1 Timothy 6:17-19

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Kingdom Value, Kingdom Purpose

In my time of prayer this morning the Lord began to give a greater revelation that all that we possess and that He places in our hands, to be of value, must have Kingdom value and Kingdom purpose.  Many of us have had prosperity and blessing in our past and many, especially in this hour, are experiencing tremendous financial hardship and pressure.  There is a reason for this season in God’s economy.  First it is to bring us to the end of our materialistic and selfish mindset that prosperity and blessing is all about me.  There has to be a realignment of our value system to line up with our purpose.  Our purpose is to set creation free and before we can do that we have to be free of all of our warped values and self priorities.  Many have become arrogant in their prosperity and blessing and they put their hope in their wealth.  Presently, we are all getting a revelation of the uncertainty of riches.  God is getting our attention and our eyes back where they should have been all along, on Him.  In verse 18 it speaks to Kingdom value and Kingdom purpose,  “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”  God is teaching us to lay a firm foundation as we are entering this coming age.  It is the principle of selfless giving and sharing of what God places in our hands.  It can no longer be about us four and no more.  We have to start functioning in the purpose of God for us as one body in Christ filling up the lack in one another.  There has to be a flow of wealth through the body of Christ so that all the needs are met and the purpose of God is carried forth.

We have grown up under capitalism, but that is no longer the economy we live and work under.  If we are in Christ then we need to realize that we living and operating out of a Kingdom economy.  That economy works for the betterment of others, not just ourselves.  I believe God is going to bring wealth and great blessing into His body again, but this time it will be of Kingdom value and for Kingdom purpose.  Isaiah 60:1-5 declares to us, ““Arise, shine, for your light has come,

and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you  and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light,

and kings to the brightness of your dawn. 4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm. 5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.” Here we see great wealth flowing into God’s people, but in verse 15 the Lord says, ” “Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.”  I believe this speaks to where we are and what we are going through.  This may get rougher before it gets better, but ultimately it will produce a people that are no longer centered upon themselves, but upon the purposes and design of God through them.

If we want to see these truths operating then they must begin with the elementary way we live our lives and how we purpose to sow into the lives of others with all of the resources that God gives us, financial or otherwise.  It is in emptying our cup, giving drink to another, that our cup will be filled.  Let us set our eyes upon the author and the finisher of our faith, even Jesus and know that He is our resource, “so that we may take hold of the life that is truly life.”  Our prosperity is in His Kingdom value and for His Kingdom purpose!

Blessings,
