Isaiah 14:1-3

The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel

and will settle them in their own land. Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob.  2Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the Lord’s land.

They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.

One New Man

Israel is God’s nation and people.  What we see in the natural is that indicator of what is in  Spirit.  In Romans Paul teaches how the rejection of Christ as the Messiah by the natural Israel and Jews permitted for the grafting in of the Gentiles.  These are the aliens that will join and unite with the house of Israel in Isaiah 14.

Romans 11:7, Paul tells us this,” What then? What Israel sought so earnestly it did not obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened, 8as it is written:

“God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes so that they could not see and ears so that they could not hear, to this very day.”  So only an elect amount out of Israel, since the time of Christ have had the spiritual eyes and discernment to embrace Christ as the Messiah until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

Paul goes on in verse 11 to say, “Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!”  In verses 25-28 he goes on to explain the mystery of this hardness.  ” I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. 26And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.  27And this is  my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

28As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.”

Out of all this God has created one new man in spiritual Israel.  He reveals it to us in Ephesians 2:11-21.  “Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (that done in the body by the hands of men)— 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”  The purpose of God as revealed in Isaiah 14 is not just to restore natural Israel, but spiritual Israel comprised of both Jew and Gentile who are made one in Christ Jesus.

Blessings,
